2.1 billion USD of FDI flowing into Vietnam in the first 20 days of 2022
According to the World Investment Report in 2021 of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development 2021, Vietnam is first presented in the group of 20 world leading countries attracting huge foreign direct investment (FDI). Although the epidemic’s impact is considerable, attracting foreign direct investment to Vietnam has experienced positive improvements.
In 2021, Vietnam attracted more than 31.1 billion USD in foreign direct investment, including newly registered capital, adjusted registered capital, and value of capital contribution and share purchase by foreign investors increased by 9.2% over the same period. Notably, capital flows are directed at quality rather than quantity. Right in the first 20 days of the first month of 2022, the country has attracted over 2.1 billion USD edging up 4.2% over the same period in 2021. Realized capital of foreign investment projects is estimated at more than 1 billion USD $61 billion also increased by 6.8%.

Standard Chartered Bank also said that over 40% of international companies surveyed are exploring manufacturing activities in Vietnam or planning to set up their headquarters in Vietnam in the coming years. Investors affirmed that the rapid fluctuations due to the epidemic would not affect the long-term confidence of foreign investors in Vietnam.
