The Ca Mau city bypass is 14.3 km long, with an investment of more than 1,700 billion VND and two bridges in Soc Trang city with a total cost of more than 300 billion VND were started on the morning of December 24.

National Highway 1A through Ca Mau City is 12 m wide, with two lanes, 80 km/h. The project has a total capital of more than VND 1,725 billion from the budget, invested by Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Transport), and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

The bypass will reduce the load on National Highway 1A, the section through the center of Ca Mau city, to develop the socio-economic of the province and the West. The project also connects the Ring Road 3 of Ca Mau City, the Southern Coastal Corridor road, to gradually complete the local and national transport network.

On the same day, Soc Trang province started the Ring 2 bridge and Nguyen Van Linh bridge, both crossing the Maspero River (about 4 km apart), in Soc Trang city. The two projects will be completed by the end of 2023.

Ring 2 Bridge is 273 m long, 14 m wide, four lanes, with a total investment of more than 204 billion VND, helping to connect Ring 2 Road (Ward 4) with Dien Bien Phu Street (Ward 8) and at the same time connect the traffic axis development traffic to the east of Soc Trang city.

Nguyen Van Linh bridge 141 m, 14 m wide, four lanes, investment capital of more than 110 billion. The work is designed in the shape of the letter Y, with three branches connecting Nguyen Van Linh, Dien Bien Phu, and Truc Lam, respectively. The project contributes to completing the infrastructure of Soc Trang City, increasing connectivity to the North and South of the Maspero River.

These are two works under the Vietnam Urban Expansion and Upgrading Project – Soc Trang City Subproject (period 2017-2023), with a total investment of 1,056 billion VND. The ODA from the World Bank is 35 million USD. The central budget is more than 118 billion VND, the counterpart capital of Soc Trang province is more than 140 billion VND.

In addition to the above three works, some critical projects in the West will begin construction soon, such as the 15 km long bypass of Long Xuyen City (An Giang), with an investment of more than 2,100 billion VND; project to renovate and upgrade national highway 1A, the section from Nga Bay city (Hau Giang) to Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang) is 18 km long, with an investment of nearly 1,700 billion VND; investment project to build a channel for large ships entering the Hau River (phase 2), with a capital of more than VND 2,200 billion.
