Complete construction of Long Thanh Airport before March 31, 2025
The investor of the 4 component projects of Long Thanh International Airport will have to complete the construction and installation of equipment before March 31, 2025, for testing and acceptance to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
Reporting to the National Assembly Economic Committee, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) said that the Covid-19 epidemic had a heavy impact on the aviation industry, including ACV. All international commercial flights were stopped, affecting the primary source of foreign currency revenue of this business.
Notably, the Long Thanh International Airport project implementation also encountered difficulties in negotiating and signing contracts with partner units with foreign experts. Some officials, employees, and workers have to be isolated, not participating in direct work at the projects. ACV has also increased online meetings to ensure the progress of the project.

On the other hand, fluctuations in raw material prices, especially steel prices, have increased sharply recently, while the total investment and detailed estimates were built according to the norms promulgated by the state and have not been adjusted in time, according to market fluctuations.
Accordingly, the Minister of Transportation sector requires investors to complete all construction and installation of equipment for all four component projects before March 31, 2025, to conduct an inspection, commissioning, test, and acceptance completed in the second quarter of 2025 and officially put into operation the Long Thanh international airport project phase 1 in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Minister of Transport assigned the Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam to assume the prime responsibility for and coordinate with the Director of the Department of Construction and Quality Management of Traffic Works to urgently direct the development and approval of the overall implementation plan for 4 component project.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested: “Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast provinces and some western provinces, and ministries and branches soon have a plan to connect transport infrastructure with Long Thanh airport in a synchronous manner. It including urban areas, service areas, including the transport system connecting the airport in which three highways Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay, and Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway, Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway, and 2 North-South railway lines, Thu Thiem light rail – Long Thanh airport and other routes”.
According to the Prime Minister, when these roads connect with Long Thanh airport, it will open up a new development space for the region, create a new growth engine, promote a new economic structure, specializing in production and service, creating new competitiveness for both the Southeast region and other regions.
