Dong Nai builds three roads connecting Long Thanh airport

To synchronize traffic with Long Thanh international airport, Dong Nai approved investing in 3 traffic projects with a total capital of 19,600 billion VND, deployed this year.

The People’s Council of Dong Nai province has decided on public investment group A (priority) with three road projects connecting Long Thanh airport, including DT 770B, DT 773, and expanding and upgrading DT 769.

According to the investment plan, expanding and upgrading DT 769 with a length of nearly 31 km is divided into two sections, including the first part from National Highway 1A to Ring Road 4 is almost 16 km long, upgraded to 4 lanes for cars and two lanes. The second section from Ring Road 4 to National Highway 51 is more than 15 km long, with six vehicles and two lanes for mixed traffic. The total investment capital of the whole project is 1,600 billion VND.

Provincial road 770B is 53 km long, eight lanes planned, 60 m wide. This is an entirely new open route, forming a traffic axis connecting districts: Dinh Quan, Thong Nhat, Cam My, and Long Khanh city to the Long Thanh airport area. The project has a total investment of 12,500 billion VND (of which compensation costs are more than 7,500 billion VND).

Meanwhile, provincial road 773 has been upgraded, expanded, and newly built with a length of 51 km, a scale of 6 to 8 lanes and 2 to 4 lanes of rudimentary vehicles, a width of 60 to 121 m with a total investment of more than 5,500 billion VND (compensation cost is about 2,300 billion VND).

Deputy director of Dong Nai Department of Transport Nguyen Bon said that all three projects are on the province’s priority list for the next five years. Currently, the locality is implementing the stage of land acquisition, site clearance, and preparation of a feasibility study report, bidding to select a construction unit to start three projects in early 2023.

According to Mr. Bon, the three routes above will “synchronize and anticipate” the Long Thanh airport project to operate in early 2025. The routes will connect the airport with localities in the province, reducing pressure on National Highway 1. , 20, 51, and Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay highway contributing to the connection of the Southeast region.

The ongoing Long Thanh airport project has a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year. The investment capital of the whole project is about 336,630 billion VND (equivalent to 16.06 billion USD, applying the exchange rate of 2014), of which phase one is 114,450 billion VND (5.45 billion USD) – expected to be completed the year 2025.
