Ho Chi Minh City: Construction workers must have the “green passes”

Building works in the “new normal” and “green zone” areas in Ho Chi Minh City are built when all employees have “green passes”, 5K compliance, and periodic testing.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just issued a draft of criteria for classifying works allowed to be built in the area and guiding the Covid-19 prevention at the construction site. Accordingly, all workers working on the construction are required to have the “green passes”

Currently, the works are permitted to be built in the areas that have reached the “new normal” including construction works for epidemic prevention and control, national and city key projects, works carried out under urgent orders by the law on construction, works in service of national defense and security has implemented structure.

Next includes projects for industrial production, transportation, agriculture, utilities, and technical infrastructure outside urban areas. Besides, the jobs are about to be completed with the volume reaching over 80%; works under construction must continue; construction in industrial zones, clusters, export processing zones, high technology; works of repairing and renovating factories and equipment within the premises of the enterprise are also being constructed.

Construction organizations at the construction site must commit that 100% of their employees will be granted the”green passes” or equivalent conditions. Before starting any activities, the investors and contractors must make an epidemic prevention plan and send it to the local government where the construction is located.

For areas of “very high risk”, “high risk”, and “risk”, all construction works must be suspended, except for construction works with epidemic prevention and control purposes and emergency building works at the request of the city.

Previously, from August 17, Ho Chi Minh City only maintained epidemic prevention works and several projects such as Metro No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien); Thu Thiem 2 bridge; overpass in front of the new Eastern Bus Station (Thu Duc City); underpass project at the intersection of Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho (District 7). These are urgent works, maintained under the “three on-site” and “1 road – 2 locations” plans, to follow the progress.
