LEGO Group commits to accelerating the 1 billion USD project in Binh Duong

On January 17, leaders of Binh Duong province had a working session with Mr. Preben Elnef – Vice President of LEGO Group (Denmark), about a US$1 billion investment project about to start construction in the province.

At the meeting with leaders of Binh Duong province, Mr. Preben Elnef – Vice President of LEGO Group (Denmark) has highly appreciated Binh Duong province’s dynamic, professional investment environment and long-term development orientation; at the same time, committed to speeding up the construction of the factory as agreed. The company is also promoting recruitment in Vietnam to serve the 1 billion USD project in Binh Duong province.

Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Minh said that the province is committed to creating the best conditions for the project to be implemented successfully and effectively; In the immediate future, the province will prepare the site, transport infrastructure, power grid system so that LEGO Group can soon implement the project and officially operate in the area.

According to LEGO Group, the factory is expected to start construction in 2022 and operate in 2024. LEGO’s new factory area is 44 hectares in Binh Duong. With a total investment of more than 1 billion USD, this is the foreign direct investment (FDI) project with most significant capital from Denmark in Vietnam.

This is LEGO’s 6th factory in the world and 2nd in Asia with the expectation that it will help LEGO expand its global supply chain network, thereby flexibly and quickly responding to changes in consumer demands in each region, shorten the supply chain and reduce the environmental impact of long-distance transportation. From there, the business can continue to provide fun experiences for more children in the upcoming years.

At the recent investment promotion session with the European market, Mr. Alain Cany, President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), said that this is proof that Binh Duong continues to become a dynamic, innovative, convenient, and safe locality, a new and attractive investment destination for European investors.

The LEGO Group was founded in Billund, Denmark, in 1932. The LEGO game system, based on LEGO bricks, allows children and fans to design and build anything they can imagine.

When building a new factory in Binh Duong, LEGO’s goal is to provide 4,000 job opportunities over the next 15 years. In addition, LEGO will indirectly support local businesses and communities.
