LEGO Group invested more than 1 billion USD in building a factory in Vietnam
The LEGO Group of Denmark will invest more than 1 billion USD in building its first carbon-neutral factory, including investment in solar energy production in Binh Duong province.

On the afternoon of December 8, under the witness of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, Lego Group signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Joint Venture Company (VSIP) to build the New factory in Binh Duong.
The project has a total investment of more than 1 billion USD, is expected to be deployed in the second half of 2022, and start operation in 2024. This project will contribute to creating 4,000 jobs.
This will be Lego’s sixth factory in the world and second in Asia with the hope of helping Lego expand its global supply chain network.
Mr. Kim Hojlund Christensen, Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, said that this project has a Danish enterprise’s most significant investment capital in Vietnam. This shows Denmark’s confidence and optimism in the future of this vital partnership.
Previously, on September 17, the Danish Ambassador informed Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh that Lego was looking for a new factory investment location in Southeast Asia and asked for support from the Vietnamese Government.
Mr. Pham Binh Minh at that time confirmed that he would directly talk to Lego leaders to connect this project. Less than half a month later, talks between Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and Mr. Carsten Rasmusssen took place.
To promote the project, on the occasion of attending the COP26 Conference in the UK, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a face-to-face meeting with the CEO of Lego Group on November 1 in Glasgow. The Prime Minister suggested that Lego coordinate with ministries, branches, and localities of Vietnam to choose suitable investment locations in the spirit of harmonizing the interests of the parties and with high efficiency.
The Lego Corporation was founded in Billund, Denmark, in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen. Lego’s game system, based on Lego bricks, allows kids and fans to design and build anything they can imagine. Lego products are sold in more than 130 countries worldwide.
