Many key projects stopped due to strict implementation distance
The Thu Thiem 2 bridge project, the overpass in front of the new Mien Dong bus station, the underground tunnel on Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho street are temporarily suspended or in moderation when Directive 16 is required to be strictly implemented.

The above information was recorded by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Statistics and said that “August 2021 is the month that construction projects face many difficulties because the city continues to strengthen the implementation of Directive 16, very few projects have eligible for “3 on-site” to continue construction.
At the same time, the price of construction materials increased, which delayed the bidding and selection of contractors. Some concrete manufacturers have temporarily suspended operations due to the COVID-19 epidemic, significantly affecting the supply of raw materials for works.
Therefore, many key construction projects face many difficulties.
Specifically, the metro railway line No. 1 Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien only executes the package of Ben Thanh station because the contractor meets the conditions to apply Directive 16.
In general, the volume of the whole route has reached over 88% so far. The project was initially planned to be put into operation by the end of this year, but due to the epidemic’s impact, it moved to mid-2022.
The Thu Thiem 2 bridge project connecting District 1 with Thu Duc City faced difficulties due to the temporary shutdown of concrete factories. Therefore, the construction is only in moderation, reaching over 70% of the progress, and is expected to meet the demand by the end of the third quarter of 2021.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Statistics also said that many production and business activities had to be suspended, which greatly affected investors’ psychology.
Therefore, the number of new licenses and registered capital of enterprises in the first 15 days of August 2021 reached a shallow level: only 265 enterprises were established with registered capital of VND 6,646 billion, down 85.5% compared with the same period last year, the same amount of money also decreased by 95.4%.
