Opening of Nam Giang – Dac Ta Ooc international border gate pair
Nam Giang officially put Dac Ta Ooc international border-gate economic zone into operation to promote cooperation in the economy, trade, investment and solve the increasing demand for entry, exit, and import goods.

On August 14, the People’s Committee of Quang Nam province, together with the Government of Se Kong province (Laos), held a ceremony to announce the opening of the international border gate pair Nam Giang (Quang Nam) – Dac Ta Ooc (Se Kong). Here, leaders of the two localities cut the ribbon to open the border gate and carried out customs clearance procedures for goods through the border gate.
Nam Giang border gate economic zone has been invested and built since 2006, focusing on building three main sub-zones with a total cost of more than 938 billion VND. From December 2020, the Government issued Resolution 183 on upgrading the main border gate into Nam Giang international border gate.
When the Nam Giang – Dac Ta Ooc international border gate is put into operation, it will promote the development of the border gate system across the border between the two countries. At the same time, opening up new opportunities for economic, trade, and tourism cooperation between the Central Key Economic Zone (Vietnam) and the central-south provinces (Laos) and connecting with the Southeast-Southern Thailand region). This border gate also attracts international investors to the area, supports the development of the east-west economic corridor, and promotes connecting and forming the ASEAN community.
In the context of the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic, with the highest political determination to overcome all difficulties, the authorities of the two provinces held a ceremony to announce the opening of the Nam Giang international border gate pair. – Dac Ta Ooc. This is a significant event after the visit to Laos by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc that officially put Nam Giang international border gate economic zone into operation to promote cooperation in economy, trade, and investment.
In addition, solving the increasing demand for entry and exit – import and export of goods through this pair of border gates, contributing to the rising socio-economic solid development of the locality along the Eastern economic corridor – West.
