Taiwanese (China) enterprises expanding investment and cooperation in Hai Phong

On the afternoon of September 1, the evaluation team of 11 large enterprises from Taiwan (China) had a field trip and worked with local authorities, industrial parks, and universities in Hai Phong to learn, connect and expand investment activities in the port city.

Evaluation team leader of Taiwanese enterprises C.Y. Huang, founder of the Southeast Asian Influence Alliance (SIA), has addressed that the 11 leading representatives in the delegation are all leading Taiwanese investors operating in sectors like electronics, electronic chip manufacturing, semiconductors, auto parts manufacturing, screens, mobile products and products from rubber, glass…

In 2022, along with the efforts of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, Taiwanese businesses in the SIA has had a working program with VinFast Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited, a subsidiary of Vingroup, to expand cooperation opportunities in components production for electric cars.

Members of the evaluation team of Taiwanese enterprises have impressed by the open investment environment, competitive advantages and preferential policies of Hai Phong city. In particular, it is a favorable condition for investors to expand production and business in industrial parks such as Trang Due, Nam Dinh Vu, DEEP C, etc., ready to support with trained human resources, cooperate in talent training segment and collaborate in doing universities research and application: Vietnam Maritime, Management and Technology of Hai Phong University, … with Taiwanese businesses.

Mr. C.Y. Huang also shared, Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular are currently the first choice of enterprises in the evaluation team as well as in the Southeast Asian Influence Alliance in expanding investment and business production development in the near future.

This is also the second Taiwanese business delegation to Hai Phong seeking investment opportunities this September, demonstrating the strong interest of foreign businesses generally and Taiwanese businesses particularly for the port city.

Said Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, by the end of August this year, Hai Phong city had 60 investment projects from Taiwan (China) with a total investment capital of USD 1.46 billion, accounting for 6.1% of total FDI attraction in the whole city. 

In which, there are 27 projects resided within industrial parks and economic zones with a total capital of 1.25 billion USD generated from Taiwan (China) enterprises in fields of manufacturing electronic components, computers, industrial gases, machine and equipment, and packaging…

Taiwanese businesses have achieved a revenue of 1.15 billion in 2021, and 668 million USD in the first 6 months of 2022, providing stable jobs for more than 8,400 employees with average income at 10.5 million VND/person/month. Mr. Le Trung Kien has affirmed that the city will facilitate administrative procedures to support investors, businesses in general and Taiwanese (China) businesses in particular when investing in the Port city.
