The international route is expected to open at the end of the year

It is not possible to close forever when there are methods to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic. That is the sharing of many National Assembly deputies on the sidelines of the 11th session, the XIV National Assembly.

In the latest report to the Ministry of Transport, the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Dinh Viet Thang said that 2020 is a challenging time for the aviation industry due to the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic. 

Before the prime minister requested to consider and study the step-by-step reopening of international routes, prepare plans to apply for the “vaccine passport” and controlled trade, delegate Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi) believes that this is entirely feasible and should be done. “This is not contrary to regulations and practice in the context of the current epidemic in Vietnam as well as in the world,” delegate Nguyen Anh Tri affirmed.

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam forecasts that the regular flight route between Vietnam and Northeast Asian and European countries will recover by the end of the year.

On June 28, a representative of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam said that the agency assessed that in the second half of 2021, people vaccinated against Covid-19 will increase sharply in Vietnam and the world (especially in key markets of Vietnam). Vietnamese airlines such as Northeast Asia, Europe) will be eligible to create herd immunity. This is the basis to gradually reopen international routes at the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth quarter.

More than 30 foreign and Vietnamese airlines operate flights from Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe to carry goods, diplomats, experts, skilled workers, international students going to and from Vietnam, licensed by the Civil Aviation Administration. In addition, the number of flights to bring Vietnamese citizens home is continuing. Regular international flights from Vietnam to other countries have not been implemented yet.

As for the return of passengers from abroad, according to the current entry regulations of the Government of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines will continue to transport according to the allocation of the authorities in the form of repatriation flights and domestic flight transport experts.

Besides, Bamboo Airways is also actively promoting and completing procedures to put into operation flights to other Asian and European countries such as Australia, Czech Republic, Germany, UK… For the market, in the US, Bamboo Airways has been granted a special license to operate Charter round-trip flights transporting passengers/goods to the US and vice versa. At the same time, the airline has been licensed by the US Department of Transportation to fly directly to the US from the fourth quarter of 2021.
