Vietnam Airlines is ready to reopen flights to Japan and the US.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has allowed airlines to open and sell regular international flight tickets to Japan and the US.

On the morning of December 23, the Director of Civil Aviation of Vietnam Dinh Viet Thang said that the Department had negotiated with aviation authorities of other countries about the plan to open regular international routes according to the Government’s schedule, from January 1. January 2022.
Up to now, the Japanese aviation authorities have agreed with Vietnam’s flight plan. The US side has also agreed to allow Vietnam Airlines to open regular direct flights to this country. Aviation management agencies of other countries/territories have not yet officially commented.
Previously, the Government agreed to a plan to restore regular international flights carrying passengers to areas with a high safety factor. First of all, Beijing/Guangzhou, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, San Francisco/Los Angeles.
According to Mr. Thang, with flights to Japan, before the epidemic from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo, only Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet flew, so the Department has agreed to allocate them to these two airlines. The number of flights by each airline is determined by the proportion of previous flights they have had. The Japanese side has also informed the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam that it will designate two airlines, Japan Airlines and ANA, to resume flights with Vietnam.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines said that after the authorities allow the sale, the airline will announce the price and number of flights on its website to buy tickets directly. The airline has prepared aircraft, people, sales, and customer care systems to prepare for the resumption of international flights.
The airline prioritizes routes in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, which have the significant market capacity to dominate the market quickly, and exploit long-distance routes to Europe, Australia, and the United States. with the advantage of a modern wide-body fleet.
According to the airline’s representative, authorities need to announce flight plans and epidemic prevention instructions soon, helping passengers proactively plan to buy tickets. Because passengers abroad need to do many procedures to confirm epidemic prevention.
Vietjet Air’s representative also said that the airline is ready to reopen regular international routes to Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore, and Phnom Penh.
According to the Ministry of Transport plan, at first, the number of flights to Vietnam will be about 4-7 flights/week for each country. Airlines are ready to exploit the number of flights allotted. After the market recovers and there is no need to limit the number of flights, the airline aims to restore the operating frequency as before the pandemic as soon as possible.
According to the immigration process, passengers with Vietnamese nationality abroad need confirmation of vaccination, if available, by written confirmation or via the app. Passengers can also go to the Vietnamese Embassy abroad to confirm vaccination. In addition, people entering Vietnam must have negative test results before entry (except for children under two years old).
When checking in, they will check passengers for epidemic prevention procedures. When disembarking in Vietnam, passengers must install and make a medical declaration on the PC-Covid application. People on entry who have had enough vaccines or recovered from Covid-19 should self-monitor their health at the residence for the first three days from the date of entry reside.
Those entering the country who have not been injected or injected with low doses quarantined at the residence for seven days from the date of entry.
The Government’s policy of reopening regular international routes helps airlines reduce costs significantly, actively build flight schedules, and open two-way passenger sales. Previously, the cost of serving irregular flights, especially at foreign terminals, had high service prices. Airlines’ fees will be reduced when regularly flying, which is the basis for adjusting low fares for passengers to travel smoothly.
