Which businesses in Ho Chi Minh City are allowed to operate?

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thanh Phong directed that if businesses do not meet one of the two requirements to combat the Covid-19 epidemic, they will stop operating from 0:00 on July 15.

Accordingly, enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City ensure one of the following two cases:

  • Firstly, enterprises can ensure both production and isolation of workers on the spot with the motto “three on-site”: On-site production – on-site eating – on-site rest.
  • Secondly, the enterprise ensures implementing the motto “1 road – 2 locations”. There is only one route to transport workers from the production place to the worker’s place of residence (can choose a dormitory or a dormitory, hotels, and concentrated accommodation for workers).

Ho Chi Minh City has 42/128 enterprises registered for both isolation and production plans. The areas of factories and warehouses are isolated with 15 vacant land and 15 new workshops to serve.

Besides, Chairman of the City People’s Committee. Can Tho asked the heads of the above agencies and units to request businesses, production, and business establishments in the city to develop a plan “both isolation and production”.

Vietnam Logistics Business Association proposes rules of safe transport to prevent epidemics, with the principle that drivers do not leave the truck when entering, leaving, and receiving goods. Local units are responsible for loading and unloading goods without contact with drivers. Businesses will participate in the implementation, strictly complying with the requirements of the Ministry of Health on recording journeys, ensuring vehicle ventilation, implementing epidemic prevention measures.

With this approach, the green channel for freight transport will not only be available to some localities, some businesses, and products according to individual proposals as it has been in the past, along with solutions to keep workers safe through the reorganization of production and labor arrangement of enterprises. If the flow of goods is ensured smoothly, enterprises can rest assured to maintain show negotiate new orders even when the epidemic is complicated.
